Long term project following the upbringing of our children as they navigate finding themselves, their values and their passions amidst tensions of gender, belonging, culture and language, real and digital worlds, and each other.
Dads and Daughters
Inspired by my own daughter’s deepening bond with her father, Dads and Daughters looks at the special relationship that’s formed between a parent who cannot relate to the lived experience of a female, and yet knows their child inside out. This mystery will only deepen as the child enters adolescence.
Dads play such an important role in neutralising traditionally ‘male’ domains like logic, problem solving and leadership and equipping their daughters to meet the world unencumbered by the limitations that were historically placed on young women.
Daughters, in turn, play such an important role showing their fathers what it means to grow into a beautifully complex woman. Deconstructing these gender roles becomes a learning experience for both.

After the Fact
Having lost a mother too early, this project is the culmination of a long held fascination with mature women who have been through the complex adventure of motherhood and come out the other side stronger, wiser, beautiful and reflecting on their journey.
Having sought them out for advice and guidance in place of the mother we lost, and holding their examples in spirit and mind as we pass through this phase of immense change ourselves, this project aims to capture beauty, strength, scars and accomplishments.
